Wonderful use of positive and negative shapes. Which also help create depth in the space and a visual representation of the characters.

Interesting concept. I find the “logos” at the bottom intriguing and they add a sense of validity to the concept.

Wonderful composition. I enjoy the various curls and loops leading the eyes around and giving it a whimsical look.

As the saying goes “The eyes are the window to the soul”, or not if you’re a replicant. Your pupillary dilation (or lack thereof) in response to emotional provocation will give you away. We call it Voight-Kampff for short.
Composition – Interesting emblem style design centered around the eye. I really enjoy the bioengineered android owl with wings spread out in the lower center. Its wings create unity and detail in the design.
Lines – The lines in the wings create a nice striated circular frame, wrapping around the focal point. The radiating lines also help bring attention to the eye.

06/06/14 Top Pick; Sauron’s Dark Ale
Composition – Wonderfully elaborate oblong frame. I really enjoy all the details within the frame. Sauron’s ornate helmet and armor is centered and extends past the frame giving him an important presence. Most of the text is contained in the banner, giving it a “label” appearance.
Lines – Wonderful amount of detail expressed by the various lines creating the Celtic knots.

03/31/14 Top 3 Pick; Dreaming Of Electric Shreep (sic)
The answer to the age old question posed by Philip K. Dick. The novel would later be adapted into the better known film, Blade Runner. The artist nicely depicts the book title by using cute round figures. The artist effectively portrays the android logo as a sleeping figure while keeping it recognizable by use of form and color.

03/31/14 Top 3 Pick; Rock, Man!
Remember that 80’s metal band, Mega Man? Well, maybe it was a video game but this shirt definitely rocks! For those in the dark, Mega Man was originally known as Rock Man in Japan (of the Roll variety). Awesome pixel design. I love the large scale of the typography in the foreground. The extreme angles in the letter forms and gradation give it a totally 80’s appearance.

Dorne can keep their wine, give me beer! I can just imagine the barrels fermenting in the crypts beneath Winterfell with all the Stark ancestors. The design is clean and uses a single color on a gray background. The old style etching quality and the organic forms on the sides of the design give it a beer label appearance. Remember to Drink Responsibly!

Blade Runner is one of my all time favorite movies. I enjoy watching all zillion versions of the film. The dark, shadowy feel of a film noir is justly conveyed with the use of black, gray, and orange in the design. There are many lovely rendered movie details throughout including my favorite, the origami unicorn. The light outlining of the buildings using only type and downward thin lines is amazing. The Spinner in the top center also hovers nicely in the negative space. The total space is used very well and balanced in a triangle composition.

How’s the weather? Looks like Always Sunny! This info-graphic is a very clever representation of the ironic title. I love typography, so I enjoy shirts with limited visual elements. This design is subtle and if seen worn might require a double take. Looks usual with clean lines and a modern san serif font.

03/24/14 Top 3 Pick; Boom
“This… is my boomstick!” Whether you’re fighting primitive screwheads, deadites, your evil twin, or even demons from hell, don’t forget your trusty twelve-gauge double-barreled Remington! Forget heaven, this is a match made in hell! I love how the artist was able to mash up these two wormhole driven, man vs evil franchises! The typography is well treated, referencing similar shape and texture. The negative space shaped into reaching hands creates a nice fade effect in the bottom of the design. This also creates upward movement giving the main figure center stage. The use of warm, golden tones radiating out from the behind the main figure also helps make him the focal point.
