Of course I went to watch this movie. Okay… okay… I know it seemed kind of lame, but I enjoyed it!
At first I didn’t know if I really wanted to go watch this film in the theater. The trailer seemed interesting, but I didn’t know how I felt about the crazy looking cgi Turtles and the whole Megan Fox/Michael Bay baggage. My husband convinced me to go being that he’s a lifelong fan and it was his birthday weekend.
To be honest, while watching the movie I was so wrapped up with the action and their individual personalities that I completely looked past how weird they looked. I also surprisingly didn’t mind Megan Fox too much. She is a very attractive actress and I was very happily surprised they didn’t try to exploit it (outside of Mikey’s crush on her). She wore plain jeans, a tee, and the same awesome yellow leather jacket throughout the whole movie (laundry must be easy)! Each Ninja Turtle had their own awesome personality and I loved how they bickered back and forth like brothers do. They actually reminded me of my cousins, so they definitely embodied the “Teenage” portion of the Ninja Turtles to the best of my knowledge; I haven’t really encountered any other kind of Ninja Turtles, mutant or otherwise!
I think Donatello was probably my favorite of the Turtles. He had an endearing nerdy personality that appealed to me. OMG was Shredder scary! His armor was amazing and terrifying. I think I got cut just looking at all those blades :p. I also really enjoyed the relationship between Splinter and the Turtles. His fight scene with Shredder was probably my favorite. You could tell he was a father protecting his children and he wasn’t just their master.
All and all 2 radical thumbs up!
COWABUNGA!!!
Here are some Awesome Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Shirt design available now:
Composition – Beautifully balanced composition. The left and right side are not exact mirror images but are very similar and nicely balanced in color and form.
Lines and Forms – I really enjoy the impressionist style details in the background paired with the nouveau style frame.
Sorry folks! I didn’t like any shirts yesterday. But today is a new day! Here are my Top Picks:
06/04/14 Top Pick; Hold Me Thrill Me
Composition – Great bold block design. Their strong embrace is centered within the block created by the heavy text. The diagonal rain lines nicely break the square to create a larger square giving the design dimension.
Color – Although the design is in black and white, the variety of lines give it color. Catwoman’s dark suit and black background is balanced nicely with Batman’s suit and the heavy text.
Composition – Nicely balanced triangular-shaped design. The text sits nicely on the pyramid’s base in a tattoo style banner.
Color – I really enjoy the shades of blue used. The blues look great with the light cool cream color. I really enjoy the light bright blue highlights making the design glow.
Typography – The type is probably the reason why I like this shirt so much. I really enjoy how the word “Who” was created. The Doctor Who components are expertly placed in the negative spaces to create the letters forms. I also really enjoy the tattoo style script in the banner.
The final season is coming up!! I have been busy re-watching previous seasons getting ready for the last. The trailers make this season look very intriguing, but I still love season 1 the best!
Creativity – Wonderful way to portray the theme song with an iconic True Blood image.
Execution – Looks amazing! Seductive, scary, rough, and the letter forms remain legible.
Composition – Wonderfully bold and balanced. The contrast of the bright white fangs with the deep red drips are breath-taking.
Composition – Amazing Art Nouveau style Disney princess. Ariel sits bright in the center as the various little icons of her character are nicely laid out in circular shapes radiate around her.
Color scheme – All the colors look amazing together. I especially like how the gradients really give the design depth. I enjoy how the green tones with the bright purple create a nice contrast.
Lines and Forms – The wonderful lines in the design really help give it an Art Nouveau appearance. I really enjoy the various thicknesses of the lines creating complexity. The forms and curve of the mermaid’s body are delicate and wavy giving her an “Under the Sea” look.
Thank You Megan Lara (also an insta-buy…. I am going to go poor buying all these shirts :P)
Once Upon A Tee is a weekly t-shirt site which offers designs for 7 days, unlike the daily sites. Once Upon A Tee offers a collection of designs which are usually part of a theme or franchise instead of the daily design model. You can either buy the whole lot for a reduced price, or pick any individual designs that catch your eye. Each design is something an independent artist created and submitted. Because of this, the styles and subjects can vary wildly and add to the excitement of buying these unique shirts. Once Upon A Tee offers their shirts in 3 styles: Men’s, Women’s, and Youth. They also offer hoodies, phone cases, and mouse pads if that’s your thing.
I recently purchased Tom Trager’s “Justice” design from them and I was thrilled when it arrived! Ordering my Women’s style shirt was a cinch. Creating an account takes only a minute of your time or you can simply check out as a guest. They conveniently offer payment via PayPal or major credit card. I recommend creating an account in order to accumulate “Rupees”, a form of currency which can be redeemed later for a discount on future orders!
I placed my order on April 20th and the shirt was shipped on April 26th. That’s 6 business days to print and ship the shirt which seems about right. From there, USPS snail mail took 4 business days to arrive at my doorstep. That’s 9 business days from purchase, to shirt-in-hand. My experience may have been faster than usual because I ordered my shirt on the last day of availability. Your time may vary based on when you order. If you order as soon as the design goes up, you’ll have to wait for the week to end before the printing process begins. Just a fair warning!
Now, onto the shirt itself.
First off, Once Upon A Tee did an extremely good job separating the ink colors. Each color seems to have been printed where each color was intended. I don’t see any unintentional bleeding of the colors or smudges. The edges are clean and crisp. The lines are even and straight. The colors themselves turned out very, VERY close to the digital image of the design. This is very impressive considering colors may vary from one screen to another. The half tones used in the background turned out very fine in the shirt. Last but not least, the output does look like Chris Evans!
The shirt used for the print is a Gildan brand “Ultra Cotton” tee, 100% cotton composition. The women’s medium fit me just fine. It was “straight cut” and not tapered like some women’s shirts. This leads to a somewhat loose but comfortable fit. Perfect for lounging around the house, showing off to your friends, or maybe even fighting crime!
My only nitpick or regret is I didn’t order the hoodie too! I love this design!
In the end, Once Upon A Tee is a fantastic site for patrons and artists alike. They offer many different designers an opportunity to share their work for an extended period of time and deliver those designs faithfully to their customers. If you’re on the fence about purchasing from this site, I highly recommend you do so. Once Upon A Tee didn’t just sell me a shirt, they ensured I would enjoy my purchase happily ever after!
