Come on up boys and girls! Don’t be shy! This circus clown college is ready for new future evil clowns. Interesting trio of scary clowns with Joker front and center, the ring leader. I enjoy the details of the old circus style sign in the background. The repetition of Joker’s sinister smile on the balloons help give this design a creepy feeling. But rest assured, there is a dark vigilante watching over. The batman symbol is nicely tucked, hiding behind the sign front and center.

I enjoy the large comic style letter forms along with the little labels and text bubbles. I especially enjoy the question mark shaped text bubble posing a question. Well balanced pyramid composition. The characters on the sides are portrayed smaller and in monotone yellow creating dimension. The yellow color  allows the characters to not get lost and pop off the dark blue background.

Blood and chaos, the mind of a killer. Interesting style of image making. The collage style design composed of a large face surround by lifeless bodies visually describes the inner thoughts of a killer. The open mouth in the center surrounded by visual complexity is very visually appealing and captivating. The  typography treatment is very similar to the style used for the show. I like the combined ‘nn’ glyphs and the lowering of its baseline which creates a sharp peak in the form.

This design is Super Green! It has fire! it has energy! And it has POP, POP, POP! This cross-dressing radio show host is wonderfully rendered in a nice “s” shape pose with a bold tattoo style. Steampunk mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all? Interesting, heroic take on the Disney princess. Lovely render of the classic Snow White beauty with a steampunk twist of her attire and accessories. I just wish I could see the steampunk dwarves!  She looks cool and tough, ready to protect herself from the evil queen. Fantastic lines and interesting bright color selection. “I will show you revenge. I am FIRE… I am DEATH.” This is the original epic fantasy dragon, Smaug!  Interesting way of combining these two infamous fantasy genre book series, one by J.R.R. Tolkien and the other by Geroge R.R. Martin. Smaug may only have one head, but that doesn’t mean you won’t get burned. Smaug looks fearsome portrayed as the three-headed dragon sigil of house Targaryen. Nice circular composition with curls to fill in the open spaces around the single head of the dragon. The rough, distressed texture along with the bold red give the design an effect of splattered blood spilled from the conflict.

Happy anniversary Simpsons! It’s The Blinky from the Black Lagoon! Marge looks terrified as the Gill-Man styled Blinky carries her from Lake Springfield. Both Blinky as the monster and Marge as the damsel in distress, are nicely portrayed. In enjoy the distressed texture of the design on the dark green shirt. The simple water ripples around the monster’s legs along with the deep green, completes the design without a need for a background.

No offense intended to the many gorgeous (and I do mean, MANY) Doctor Who designs out there, but it’s refreshing to see a well thought out mash-up that makes sense for both universes. Jack is pondering the Tardis door and the many places and times it may lead. One could just imagine what a hilarious time traveler Jack would make and the unique and gothic spin Burton would put on the concept. The bark texture on the tree is also transferred on to the Tardis, giving it an appearance of being painted on. I very much enjoy the orange background. Its simple use of positive and negative space is wonderful, and very descriptive without attracting too much attention.

Speaking of repeat designs… Frozen sure is popular these days! You’ll find no mash-up here, however. Just an overall gorgeous design that employs solid colors and forms. The artist wonderfully uses simple lines and forms on a medium blue background to illustrate these lovely figures. I especially enjoy the curves and bends of the shape of both figures’ hair. The figures’ facial expressions makes the viewer wonder what these two sisters are chatting about.

This design depicts many elements of Bioshock Infinite in which Elizabeth takes control. We see the tables have turned on her jailor, Songbird. In the background, one of Elizabeth’s tears is open to Paris and is also foreshadowed by the Eiffel Tower in the foreground. Keen observers may even notice the Return of the Jedi on the theater marquee! This is an interesting circular composition in which the main figure appears to sit on a pedestal. Wonderful purple blue hues to show the tear effect. That should be interesting to see with a spot gloss, perhaps giving the design dimension. Elizabeth’s face is looking up and away. It carries emotion and makes her seem pensive or reflecting.

I think this design is entirely original, but if it’s referencing something, please let me know! I highly enjoy the color palette used in this design. The wonderful striation of the long thin stokes gives the effect of rain coming down. The rain nicely defines the figure in the scene. The neon colors reflected in the rain are nicely balanced throughout the design. The negative space figures in the bottom foreground are wonderful and create a nice transition from design to shirt.
